Veteran broadcaster Femi Adio, popularly known as Femi Adio Wonder, has reportedly passed away at the age of 52 after battling severe diabetes.
His broadcasting journey spanned more than 30 years, beginning with Radio Lagos before he moved to Eko FM. He also worked with Paramount FM in Abeokuta, Ogun State, before venturing into film marketing.
But behind the familiar voice was a man who reportedly faced a difficult health battle.
After hosting a triple celebration in 2014 to mark his 40th birthday, the release of his radio presentation CD Femi Adio Reloaded, and his Nikhai ceremony with his wife, Ayishat Adio, his health challenges reportedly began.
In a heartbreaking turn of events, Femi Adio later appealed publicly for help with his treatment.
Reports say he sold properties, including cars and houses he had acquired during his successful years, to fund medical care. The illness reportedly affected both his finances and mobility.
From being a professional barber in his younger years to becoming a respected voice in Yoruba broadcasting, his journey was one of hard work, talent and resilience.
He hailed from Iwo, Osun State.
His 2014 celebration was attended by notable personalities, including Sheu Jamiu Amioloun, Emmanuela Abimbola Fashola, wife of the then Lagos State governor, and Hon. Dayo Saka Fafunmi, among others.
