The Cross River State Commissioner for Power, Dr. Eka Williams, has reportedly died in Abuja, throwing his family, friends and people of his native Akparabong community in Ikom Local Government Area into mourning.

Although the circumstances behind the death have not been officially made public, although the report stated that the Commissioner reportedly slumped and died in a hotel Abuja.
The news has reportedly come as a shock to those close to the deceased, particularly because he was said to have been active in recent days.
A close friend of the late Commissioner reportedly said Eka Williams was with them during Governor Bassey Otu's recent visit to Ikom and had even called him to his residence for an assessment meeting after the Governor's visit.
The friend said he was therefore shocked to hear of the Commissioner's death after speaking with him and learning that he was travelling to Abuja.
Reacting to the death, the deceased's younger brother, Nkang Williams, described the development as difficult to believe, saying the family was struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss.
In a tribute shared on the late Commissioner's Facebook page, Nkang mourned his brother as a family member, companion and a person whose life touched many people.
He described Eka's death as a painful reality and prayed for the repose of his soul.
The death of the Commissioner has also left residents of Akparabong and the wider Ikom community mourning the loss of one of their prominent sons.
