President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sworn in Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), formally commencing his tenure on Thursday, August 27, at the State House in Abuja.
Enitan succeeds Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who retired after reaching the statutory retirement age of 60. A formal handover followed the swearing-in, with Walson-Jack presenting her handover note covering her tenure from August 14, 2024, to August 27, 2026.
Before his appointment, Enitan was the most senior Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service and served for seven years and seven months as a Permanent Secretary.
His previous postings included the Ministry of Police Affairs, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Office of the Vice President and Federal Ministry of Education.
Tinubu had appointed Enitan on August 19, 2026, with the appointment taking effect on August 27. The President charged him to consolidate ongoing civil service reforms, strengthen professionalism and efficiency, and build a merit-driven, accountable, innovative and responsive public service.
Enitan, who hails from Osun State, was born on December 12, 1966. He holds a B.Sc. in Finance and Banking from the University of Lagos and an M.Sc. in Public Policy Analysis from Nasarawa State University.
