RCCG Members Protest Pastor’s Removal In Port Harcourt

Members of Pastor Enoch Adeboye’s Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Showers of Blessing parish in Rumuokwurushi, Port Harcourt, staged a protest last Sunday over the alleged political undertones in the removal of their pastor.

In a viral video circulating on social media, dozens of congregants were seen gathered at the entrance of the parish, refusing to enter the church while demanding the reinstatement of the pastor, identified in the clip by some worshippers as “Pastor Obiora.”

Protesting members of the church said the pastor in question is the fifth to be assigned to and removed from the parish within one year. They warned that the church would be shut down if their demands were not met.

“Bring back our pastor or we close down the church, simple. It’s either they give us back our pastor, or we shut the church down. How can you change five pastors in one year? A pastor that came around and was doing a beautiful job, they didn’t allow him stay because of politics,” one prominent voice in the video said.

Members who spoke on camera described the situation as “politics” within the church structure and appealed for an end to frequent leadership changes at the parish. Several worshippers said the pastor was popular among congregants and that his removal appeared to be driven by internal disagreements rather than pastoral performance. These claims could not be independently verified at the time of publication.

The Showers of Blessing parish is one of many RCCG branches across Nigeria. The Redeemed Christian Church of God is led globally by Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, who serves as the General Overseer.
