Nine people have been killed after a Learjet 60 business jet crashed into a residential area in Palm Beach County, Florida, United States, on Sunday, November 1, 2026.
The aircraft was travelling from Austin, Texas, to North Eleuthera in the Bahamas when it crashed near Greenacres at about 12:50 p.m. local time. All nine people aboard were confirmed dead by US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy.
Air traffic control recordings revealed that the pilots reported icing and moderate turbulence before declaring an emergency as the aircraft descended rapidly. One of the final messages heard from the cockpit was, “We’re out of time.”
The crash left a large crater and scattered debris near a mobile home community, forcing authorities to evacuate approximately 600 residents. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis described the incident as a major tragedy, while no deaths or injuries on the ground had been reported at the time of his briefing.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has launched an investigation, with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) providing support. The cause of the crash has not yet been established.
