A Canada-based Nigerian tech recruiter, Ebunoluwa Tomiwa, has been arrested in Camada and charged over alleged human trafficking and s£xual offences.
According to the Hamilton Police Service, Mr Tomiwa, who also goes by the nickname Boon, was apprehended after he voluntarily turned himself in hours after he was declared wanted.
“Hamilton Police have arrested Ebunoluwa Tomiwa after he turned himself into Police earlier this morning. Tomiwa will be appearing in court for a bail hearing,” the police said in a statement.
The police noted that the 33-year-old, who claims to be a tech recruiter at TEKsystems on his LinkedIn profile, was subsequently charged with human trafficking, procurement of s£xual services and withholding documents.
“Ebunoluwa Tomiwa, 33 years old, of Belleville was arrested for the following charges; Trafficking in Persons, Procuring for S£xual Services, Material Benefit – Trafficking of Persons and Withholding Documents,” Hamilton police noted.
The police said investigators reported that the suspect might have harmed other victims, urging anyone affected to contact the authorities.
“Investigators believe there may be additional victims and encourage anyone who may have information, or who believes they may have been victimized, to come forward and speak with investigators,” the police added.
