Founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Henry Seriake Dickson, has embarked on a one-week working visit to Europe, where he met with executives and supporters of the party in Germany and the United Kingdom.
Dickson said the trip followed almost a year of efforts devoted to building the NDC and addressing challenges associated with establishing the party.
During meetings with party officials, the former Bayelsa State governor thanked members in the diaspora for their support and encouraged them to continue mobilising for the NDC and its candidates ahead of forthcoming elections.
He said the party had fielded candidates for several elective positions, from the presidency to state Houses of Assembly, and urged diaspora members to sensitise their families and constituents in Nigeria, particularly registered voters, about participating in the electoral process.
Dickson also encouraged NDC chapters abroad to strengthen their structures and organise conferences and conventions, assuring them that the party’s national leadership and candidates would make efforts to participate in such gatherings.
He further urged the European chapters to maintain close collaboration with the party’s Directorate of Diaspora Affairs in Nigeria.
Dickson thanked NDC executives in Germany and the UK for receiving him and briefing him on their activities and progress so far.
