Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has dissolved all ad hoc committees constituted by the 10th House, bringing their ongoing assignments to an end.
Among the affected panels is the committee chaired by Yusuf Gagdi, which was investigating controversies surrounding the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).
The dissolution was communicated to lawmakers in a memorandum signed by the Clerk of the House, Sidi Ibrahim. The directive took effect on Friday, August 28, 2026.
The House said the committees were dissolved because they had exceeded the time allotted for their assignments. Members had earlier been directed to conclude their investigations and submit their reports, while only two committees were granted a two-week extension, which had already expired.
Chairmen of the affected committees have been directed to submit all outstanding reports, working documents and records to the Office of the Clerk of the House for safekeeping.
The PFIPC committee had been investigating the controversial organisation and had earlier presented preliminary findings concerning its alleged inclusion in the 2026 Federal Budget Framework. The committee said it found no valid law or presidential order establishing PFIPC.
