A Delta State High Court has declined to grant bail to social media personality Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as Odogwu Asaba, who is currently in detention in connection with an ongoing case arising from allegations involving the death of late 21-year-old woman in Delta State.
The bail application filed by Ogbonna’s legal team was heard on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.
According to an update issued by Triple O and C Chambers, lawyers Ugochukwu Okoli, N.N. Onuzurike and C.S. Chukwudolue appeared for Ogbonna, while Dr. R.O. Ishiguzo, a law officer attached to the Nigeria Police Force, State CID, Asaba, represented the respondent.
After hearing arguments on the bail application, the court declined to release Ogbonna at this stage.
The court reportedly cited concerns about the applicant’s safety and possible public reaction, while also noting that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) had not yet filed the Information in the case.
The court subsequently directed the DPP to file the Information within 14 days.
Ogbonna is, however, entitled to apply for bail again after the Information has been filed.
