President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday, August 20, 2026, held a closed-door meeting with re-elected Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Adeleke arrived at the State House at about 5:25 p.m., accompanied by senior government and campaign officials.
The meeting was Adeleke’s first known encounter with Tinubu at the Presidential Villa since his re-election in the August 15 Osun governorship election. Adeleke secured 511,067 votes to defeat the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.
Adeleke also presented his Certificate of Return to President Tinubu following its issuance by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
During the course of the visit , the President told his visitor that he should show magnanimity in his victory because he did not conquer anybody
"You are in a very unique position to make history, expand your coast, because that's the only way you can give thanks to osun people, not the way you found it but the way you act"
The meeting comes days after Tinubu congratulated Adeleke on his victory and urged him to unite the people of Osun State regardless of their political affiliations.
