The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has publicly destroyed 329,865.585 kilogrammes of assorted illicit drugs worth an estimated ₦301.058 billion in Lagos.
The court-ordered exercise was carried out on Monday, August 17, 2026, following the conclusion of related cases and the forfeiture of abandoned drug seizures. The destruction took place in Lagos.
The drugs included cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, cannabis strains such as Canadian Loud and skunk, ephedrine, tramadol, codeine syrup, other opioids and khat leaf. Of the total, 246,864.535kg was seized by the NDLEA’s Lagos Strategic Command between April 2025 and May 2026.
NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), described the exercise as a demonstration of Nigeria’s determination to disrupt drug trafficking and deprive criminal networks of resources.
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other security officials also commended the agency’s efforts, with officials highlighting the links between illicit drug trafficking, organised crime and other security threats.
