Danish Aid Worker Shares New Photos Of Two Boys Rescued In Akwa Ibom 11 Years Ago Accused Of Withcrafts

Danish aid worker, Anja Ringgren Loven has shared a new photo of two boys, Ulo and Iyanam, who were rescued in 2014 after being accused of being witches and abandoned by their families.

“When I was 4 months pregnant in 2014 I was in Denmark preparing to travel back to Nigeria when I got a phone call from my husband, David.

He told me that he just rescued two young boys.

They were accused of being witches,” she wrote in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

Both boys were severely malnourished and one of the boys had been hit with a cane so many times on the arm that it broke in several places.

Malnutrition is a serious condition and if it’s left untreated it can lead to organ damage and a high risk of dying.

Due to the support we received in 2014 David and I were able to give the boys the medical treatment they needed.

Now 11 years after their rescue the boys have grown up at Land of Hope and become the most healthy, strongest and brilliant young men. One has even taken 1st position in his class every year.

Thank you for supporting Land of Hope. Donations save lives.

Ulo and Iyanam were once accused of being witches and abused.

Next year the boys will start university.
