Gov Mbah Launches Construction Of 141 Urban Roads In Enugu

Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has flagged off the construction of 141 urban roads across 13 zones in the state capital, emphasising that the people of Enugu deserve top-tier infrastructure.

The beneficiary zones include Abakpa, Achara Layout, Asata, Awkunanaw, Coal Camp, Independence Layout, New Haven, Old GRA, Thinkers Corner, Trans-Ekulu, and Uwani.

During the symbolic launch at Ologo under the Coal Camp Zone in Enugu North LGA and Monaque Avenue in Awkunanaw Zone, Enugu South LGA, Mbah stated that the roads align with his administration’s vision of eradicating poverty, expanding the state’s economy to $30 billion, and making Enugu a premier hub for business, tourism, and investment.

“This is more than just laying asphalt on roads. It is about empowering our people, particularly women, by creating opportunities for wealth generation. Our commitment is to eradicate poverty, and we recognize that achieving this requires concrete government actions,” he said.

He added that improved road infrastructure would reduce transportation costs, boost local businesses, and enhance disposable income, ultimately alleviating poverty.

Mbah assured residents that the 141 roads have been divided into 17 project lots for timely completion within three months, with funds already secured and contracts awarded to competent firms.

Residents, including Chief Chris Okaka of Ologo and Chief Ifeanyi Nnaji, President-General of Amechi-Uwani, expressed gratitude, noting that some of the roads had been neglected for over 40 years.
