Yuletide: C’River Suspends Traffic Enforcement For Three Weeks


The government of Cross River State has suspended all traffic enforcement activities for the yuletide season across the state.

The suspension, which is for three weeks spans from December 24, 2024 to January 13, 2025.

A press release, signed on Tuesday by Commander Bassey Okokon, Public Relations Officer of the Traffic Management and Regulatory Agency, stated that the initiative is to accommodate the influx of visitors visiting the state for the festive season, particularly the Carnival.

The release reads, “In alignment with His Excellency, Governor Bassey Otu’s mantra of ‘The People First,’ the Director General of the Cross River State Traffic Management and Regulatory Agency has announced the temporary suspension of all traffic enforcement activities across the state.


“This suspension will take effect from December 23, 2024, and remain in place until January 13, 2025.”

This initiative aims to honour and accommodate the influx of visitors anticipated in the state during the festive season, particularly for the famous Carnival and other Christmas activities.

The Director General of the Cross River State Traffic Management and Regulatory Agency, Effiong Umoh, urged all citizens and visitors to observe road safety protocols during this period, while also taking advantage of the vibrant festivities that will unfold throughout the state.

He added, “As we celebrate and welcome guests from near and far, this decision reflects our commitment to create a warm and enjoyable atmosphere for all.

“We appreciate the cooperation of all stakeholders and wish everyone a joyous and safe holiday season.”
