Court Remands Chinese In Prison For Allegedly Killing Nigerian Girlfriend


 

A Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in Kano State, yesterday, remanded in a prison facility, a Chinese national, Geng Quarong, for allegedly killing his ex-Nigerian lover,  Ummukulsum Buhari. 


Quarong was arraigned before the court by the Kano State Police Commissioner on a one-count charge of culpable homicide contrary to Section 221 of the Penal Code.

Trial magistrate, Hanif Yusuf, ordered his remand in prison custody, pending legal advice from the state Ministry of Justice.


The court, however, adjourned the case to October 13, 2022.

It would be recalled that Quanrong, 47, of Nassarawa GRA Quarters Kano, was alleged to have gone to the residence of Ummukulsum Buhari, 22, on September 16, 2022, attacked her with a sharp knife, inflicting deep cuts on her neck and some other parts of her body, leading to her death
