This was his post :
I got the story of Rickey Tarfa, SAN's arrest early yesterday. I took time out to investigate the details. I didn't want to be caught in the web of my two friends involved in the case, so I decided to focus only on the issue of bail and how to release Rickey. I spoke with Mr Alegeh, SAN, and other witnesses to the event. But I didn't want to raise much of the details, because of the fact the case is still in court.
All I wanted was that no matter the circumstance, Rickey should be granted bail. I knew that the matter had nothing to do with treasury looting or corruption.
But then some Buhari apologists went to town, shouted themselves hoarse and even abused and insulted me thoroughly, over a case they new next to nothing about.
Chief Olanipekun, SAN, Owonikoko, SAN, Pinheiro, SAN and so many other eminent lawyers, led by the NBA President, were at the EFCC after hearing the facts.
All that we ask for is a country where, even when a suspect is caught
in the very act, he should be treated according to law, not this
primitive campaign of jungle justice and mob action, which some over
zealous persons can easily take advantage of, even for their own
personal matters.
We cannot have military rule under a democracy. Once a leader starts advocating that the rule of law be jettisoned, then we are on the way to dictatorship. It will start with a popular slogan, such as anti-corruption war, and when there's no one to prosecute for anti-corruption again, then he will move to his opponents, to lawyers, to journalists and the list gets longer.
My concern now is my friends who seem to own Nigeria more than any other person, who cannot stomach any criticism of Buhari, no matter how objective or rational, who cannot see that we are gradually descending into a one man country, and who want all critics of their idol to shut up and close shop.
It is a dangerous development indeed, and I pray that one day, those riding on the back of the lion will not end up in its belly. I just pray.
