The
transition chairman of Isiala Ngwa North local government of Abia state, Chief
Ginger Onwusibe, yesterday faulted Senator Nkechi Nwaogu’s claim that she was a
target of assassination attempt by thugs, saying that it was “an attempt by the
Senator to blackmail and tell lies against him.”
Speaking at
a news conference in Umuahia the council boss, who was fingered by the Senator
representing Abia Central, vehemently denied having any encounter with the
Senator on the fateful day of August 29, 2014.
Rather Onwusibe said it was the Senator’s security men and her aides that launched attack on him when his car was waiting to cross to the other side of the Enugu-port Harcourt expressway at Uratta Amaekpu junction.
“It is our
considered opinion therefore that this is one matter that should not be swept
under the carpet. We call on the IGP to thoroughly investigate the matter and
bring the Senator to book for endangering innocent people’s lives,” he said.
