The Arewa
Consultative Forum (ACF) has said that reports reaching it indicated that
over three million people were displaced, 1,500 people killed and property
worth billions of naira destroyed as a result of insurgency attacks in Borno,
Yobe and Adamawa states within a period of three months between January
to March 2014.
ACF, in a
statement issued to journalists in Kaduna on Wednesday by its National
Publicity Secretary, Muhammad Ibrahim, expressed worry that the spate of
killings in the Northern states of Nigeria by gunmen and insurgents had
continued to pose serious security challenges to the nation’s security
agencies.
“The daily
attack on villages and communities by unknown gunmen and insurgents in most
states of the North is barbaric, worrisome and unacceptable,” the statement
said.
