Okonjo Iweala Has Refused To Approve $200m Rivers Money..Amaechi

Rivers State Governor,Chibuike Amaechi has accused the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala of refusing to approve a $200million loan meant to provide water for the people of Rivers State because of his disagreement with the President.

He said that other agents/agencies of the Federal Government have stalled development in his state for the same reason.

The governor said: “The African Development Bank (ADB) met with the Rivers State Government. We agreed on the loan and they signed off every document. All the requirements have been met to give us $200million as loan for water in River State.

“We travelled and concluded every arrangement but the Minister of Finance, who by international standard is recognised in the world, has refused to sign off for us to provide water for Rivers people.
“Meanwhile, I ,the Governor, I drink bottled water paid for by Rivers people and then she has refused to sign off for the money to be released so that we can give our people water because Governor Amaechi is against the President.

“So it is like two women quarrelling and keeping malice with you. So they are keeping malice with me now and my people should die because I disagreed with the President.”

Amaechi said Nigeria is facing lot of challenges, which can only be addressed if the leaders make conscious efforts to do the right thing.

    1. You will go to EFCC Cell on behalf of Amaechi, Idiot. The man just told you, he has his own money to buy water. He is a serving Governor for the past 8 years. What is N6m to all our Nigerian governors? The man has arranged $200m for the betterment of his people but one idiotic woman refused to signed. I trust Rivers people, they will match out to protest against that witch that called herself Finance Minister. She's so corrupt, that was why she could not win World Bank President.

  6. Why will Chibuke Amechi depend on loan from the federal goverment befor he can provide water for his people? What has he be doing with the all the revenue and SURE-P money that is allocated to his state for allmost 7yrs that he has been in office? Why can't Amechi generate money from his state to provide water for his people? And how is he going to pay back the loan in less than 2yrs remaining in office?

  8. Am so surprise DAT our dear governor is crying for a project DAT will not b effective or efficient cos any Serving governor will promise his people; good road, water and light. But we should b truthful to ourslf if we are really getting any of dese up to 40%. Thank God DAT dey our leaders do travel around d world but wat surprise me most is DAT those kind of tins dey see out der can't b in der own place. To b truthful if d money is given to him, d common man in Port Harcourt will not benefit from it cos I use to remember wen PH use to have public tape were everyone will go and get good water but now Rivers State is running into too much loan which my affect d state later.
