A gang of robbers
numbering about 20 and fully armed with sophisticated weapons stormed three
banks in Omu Aran in Irepodun local government area of Kwara State on Tuesday
evening killing two bank officials and a vigilante man, while four police
officers, including the Area Commander sustained serious injuries.
It was gathered
that the armed robbers, who came in a red Golf car successfully gained access
to the vaults of two of the banks and took away millions of naira. The
operation reportedly started at 6pm and lasted for an hour.
It was an attack
that left the residents in bewilderment as they never expected it. Our
correspondent gathered that state police commissioner Oshodi Glover Agboola
paid an assessment visit to the community just as stakeholders in the community
met to review the incident.
Police Public
Relations Officer for the state Olufemi Fabode confirmed the incident, saying
