Veteran Deejay And Gospel Act Lieutenant Stitchie Is Dead
He died at hospital in Kingston on Monday, one day shy of his 61st birthday.
He has been ailing for some time.
Stitchie suffered a debilitating stroke in September 2024, and since then has been receiving care at a private medical facility.
He was born Cleveland Laing in Spanish Town, St Catherine in 1965.
He was a former athlete and school teacher.
Stitchie cut his musical teeth on the competitive sound system circuit during the early 1980s, alongside Papa San, Wickerman, and Major Worries.
He got his mainstream breakthrough with the hilarious Wear Yuh Size in 1986, followed by Natty Dread.
