ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT SET ABLAZE IN MARABA

Barely two months after a suspected thief was set ablaze by a mob in Mararaba, a burnt body of an unidentified man was found at Kabayi-Aso Road of the same area which is a few kilometers from the FCT

The burnt body was seen abandoned, Tuesday morning, near the place the thief was set ablaze.

The man, also said to be a thief, was set ablaze at about 4:00am.

Residents said the area has recently turned into a den of thieves and armed robbers.

A resident, who did not want to be named, said the mobbed thief and his gang stole plasma television, generator, amplifier, vehicle’s battery, and other items from houses and a church in the area before they ran out of luck.

“They are very wicked and have no sympathy at all,” the resident said.

“They will come and collect your things and even attack you with weapons sometimes,” he added.

It was learnt that two members of the suspected robbery gang have escaped.

Business activities in the neighbourhood were shut as all shops were closed for fear of police arrest.

A Police source at the ‘A’ Division police Station Mararaba, who pleaded anonymity, confirmed the incident.

He said residents should desist from taking laws into their own hands.
