MY TAKE ON THE CONTNUED INCARCERATION OF NNAMDU KALU (CKN'S OPINION)

I made up my mind sometime ago not to write anything about Nnamdi Kanu and the problem he is going through again..This was not borne out of anything but due to my personal conviction that some of those pushing him on were not doing the right thing..Some of us have been termed saboteurs for speaking the truth on this issue..When I look back,i realise that MKO Abiola would have been alive today but for the NADECO members who continued to cheer him on,today they are enjoying and making billions of Naira from his sweat and all he fought for but the man is down in his grave totally forgotten..I decided to put up this write up once again after seeing the pictures of Nnamdi Kanu yesterday..A mere look at the picture showed a man in pain,a man that is totally weak and exhausted. A man pleading to be released..Yesterday he pleaded he should be transferred to a Prison rather than being kept in the custody of the DSS..i have gone through that road myself and know the difference (having being incarcerated for publishing a story)..I was detained in police cell for three days and kept at Ikoyi Prison for 21 days..i know the difference..A million days in Prison is better than one day in a police cell..In prison you ll have the privilege of moving around..Your freedom is not totally curtailed..Your rights though not total but you are treated with dignity..You are entitled to visitors..The warders treat you like a human being but I cannot say that of a police cell..Though no one tortured me at both ends but psychological I was at home at the prison..Instead of Nnamdi's counsels to take the lead on the young man's plea to be sent to Kuje prison, they were running around chasing shadows..Now the DSS has gotten another court order to keep him for another 90 days..I plead with the FG to let this guy go home if he meets his bail conditions..His counsels should be tact in making sure that he is moved from DSS custody to a prison..He ll be better looked after there..When next you are in court and asked to be kept in either police or prison custody,go for the latter..I almost made that mistake but I am telling you for sure, being in prison is far far better than being kept with the police or Dss..I wish Nnamdi Kanu the best of luck..
