“SMART SISTAS 15” is intended to be a one day 3 on 3
basketball tournament, for 16 teams leading to the first ever winner of the
SMART SISTAS cup. It’s time for DUNKATHON!!!! As it has been the continuous
tradition of having specific themes with its motivating meanings for each
quarter, it is our great desire to majorly encourage character building,
discipline and team spirit. Alongside we also intend to inspire
self-confidence, respect and personal fitness in a fun way. All proceeds
from this tournament will be used for a skill acquisition programme the next
day, Sunday 30th of September 2012 in the art of soap making and beads making
for 20 widows and other items to be given to the widows and their families areITEMS REQUIRED
Ø Educational Materials {Pens, pencils, exercise books, rulers, textbooks, crayons etc.}
Ø Basic Food Items {Salt, sardine, rice, beans, noodles, yam, garri, pepper, oil, beverages etc.}
Ø Toiletries {Toilet rolls, soaps, creams, toothpaste, detergents, body spray etc.}
Ø Electronics {Radio, television, fans, irons, gas, microwaves etc.}
Ø Cloths for both babies and adults {Materials, shoes, bags, etc.}
Ø Other General Items (School bags, lunch boxes, Toys etc.}
The rest of the proceeds will finally be used to pay the schools fees for four young girls as part of our passion towards education. Financial donations are also accepted in other to pay the school fees.
Thanks to the National Basketball Federation, it will be taking place on the 29th of Sept at the National Stadium, 10am. We humbly invite you to join the SMART SISTAS and help keep this vision alive by showing your great support through digging in2 ur closet to bring all you can or playing on that day as one of the 16 teams required. If you want to play then you need to pick up your forms, it’s a team of 3 players maximum 4 players, open to all both male and female. 16 teams are required and it will be a complete Knock out with the final winning team walking away with the SMART SISTAS CUP 2012 and FIFTY THOUSAND NAIRA (N50, 000); there will be other consolation prizes…………

Its important to note that SMART SISTAS is the brainchild of Sephiny Smart, a passionate lady who believes strongly in creating opportunities to impact lives especially to women. Sephiny is the presenter of a live weekend Programme on Saturday morning on NTA Entertainment; she also presents and produces another programme that is aired on both NTA Entertainment and NTA International. She is however, willing to share her vision with others so that together we can nurture and sustain it as Ours. It is also a subsidiary of Smart Zone E and is a Non-Profit Organization (NPO) and assists Tabitha Cumi Foundation: an organization that raises the standard of living for under privileged women.
This network is intended to positively touch lives and demonstrate love. This is done open house format where outstanding motivational speakers are invited to speak on the chosen topics of the day. This event is spiced up with various entertainment such music and dance performances, poetry, comedy, display of visual Arts, and a lot more. Its also done through an outreach to Widows and takes form in two different ways, the first is an act titled “Diggin in2 Ur Closet”. This is where we try as much as we can to put a smile on the faces of these beautiful women who have had their husbands taken away from them by untimely death and are finding it difficult to sustain the home front. This session gives us the opportunity to meet those various needs. We implore our sponsors and supporter to donate all sort of worthy items to the cause. These are in turn presented to the widows. However SMART SISTAS endeavour to do more than just hand out gifts to these widows. We also empower the widows to try and make a living for themselves by organizing various learning programs such as soap production, beads making, tailoring; the list is endless on the skills to teach their widows. The final way is promoting Education; from the financial donations from Corporate and private bodies, SMART SISTAS pay school fees for young girls in both primary and secondary level. The school fees of four girls are paid for at every quarter. Since its inception in January 2010, SMART SISTAS has proudly hosted fourteen successful quarterly events of this kind.
