Police Arrest Three Suspected Cultists, Recover Six Guns In Delta

The Delta State Police Command has arrested three suspected cultists during separate security operations in Agbarho and Oghara, recovering six firearms and other dangerous weapons.

The first operation led to the arrest of 34-year-old Akpoghene Goodluck on November 4 along the Agbarho–Warri Expressway. Police said a search following his arrest uncovered two locally made guns and 10 expended cartridges. Further investigation led to the arrest of 50-year-old Solomon Arhugberume James, from whose residence officers recovered a pump-action gun and a live cartridge.

In a separate operation, police arrested 23-year-old Clinton Awuerowswo, also known as Clinbaby, in Oghara. He had reportedly been on the run since firearms were recovered from his residence in March 2026. Items recovered in connection with the case included a Beretta pistol, two locally made cut-to-size guns, three live cartridges, a battle axe and a jackknife.

Police spokesperson Bright Edafe said preliminary investigations indicated that Awuerowswo admitted ownership of the weapons and membership of the Eiye confraternity. Investigations into all three cases are ongoing.
