Yobe State High Court-1 sitting in Damaturu has sentenced a 45-year old man, Abubakar Musa, popularly known as Daddy, to death by hanging for killing his wife, Ammi Mamman in 2024.
The Nigerian Police, Yobe Command, had on January 4th, 2024 arrested the convict after he allegedly killed his wife, Ammi at New Bra-Bra Housing Estate, Damaturu and charged him to court with culpable homicide.
Two years after, the Judge of the Yobe State High Court 1, rejected the defendant's plea of not guilty, noting that based on the evidence before him, such plea was not plausible and that the prosecution was able to establish all the ingredients of culpable homicide and had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.
By law, Daddy is at liberty to appeal the case within the stipulated days or failure of such will lead to the full implementation of the judgment.
Background
Abubakar Musa (popularly known as Daddy) killed his wife, Ammi Mamman, by stabbing her in the neck while they were in bed together on January 4, 2024, at approximately 4:48 AM.
After the attack Musa told a neighbor that his wife was bleeding; an ambulance was called, she was rushed to a nearby hospital and doctors pronounced her dead, declaring that she was brought in dead.
Police investigations led to the arrest and arraignment of Daddy for murder.
