Rivers State University Enforces ID Card Entrance Into Campus By Students

Rivers State University (RSU) has started enforcing its no ID card, no entry rule, as staff and students were checked at the university's entrance on Monday, October 19, 2026.

The enforcement follows an earlier directive by the university management making the wearing of valid university identity cards compulsory for all staff and students during the 2026/2027 academic session.

According to an internal memorandum from the Office of the Registrar, an enforcement committee, working with security personnel, is responsible for ensuring compliance at the university's entry and exit points.

The directive also requires lecturers to deny students without valid ID cards access to lecture halls and laboratories.

Special identity cards are also to be issued to visitors, residents and business operators within the university to improve identification and control access to the campus.
