Military Storm Militants Forest In Anambra, Seize Weapons, IED , Arrest Criminals


 

Troops of the Nigerian Army, in a daring operation involving a river crossing into a difficult forest terrain, have stormed a suspected criminal camp in Abator, Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State, recovering a cache of firearms, ammunition and materials suspected to be associated with improvised explosive device (IED) production.

The operation, conducted on Oct. 1, followed the rescue of three persons abducted in the Osakwa General Area of Ihiala Local Government Area, in an incident that triggered a security response involving troops and local security volunteers.


According to the sources, troops of 185 Battalion, working alongside the local security volunteers, conducted a follow-up operation at about 5:30 a.m. on Oct. 1 and arrested a suspected member of the kidnapping syndicate, identified as Sunday Obi.
