The House of Representatives has summoned the chief executive officers of MTN Nigeria, Airtel Nigeria, Globacom (Glo), Mafab Communications and other telecom operators to explain persistent poor network quality across Nigeria.
The lawmakers directed the executives to appear before an ad hoc committee on October 28, 2026, at 2 p.m. in Abuja.
The committee, chaired by Olumide Osoba, took the decision after expressing dissatisfaction with the failure of some operators to honour previous invitations. The companies are expected to submit relevant documents and explain the causes of poor service affecting subscribers and businesses.
The lawmakers directed the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to ensure compliance and warned that executives who fail to appear could face arrest summons to compel their attendance.
The investigation comes amid continued complaints about unreliable calls and internet connectivity, which affect communication, business transactions and Point of Sale (POS) payments.
