An alleged fake lawyer, identified as Ugwumba Enyinnaya, has reportedly been arrested in Ebonyi State by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Abakaliki Branch Anti-Quackery Team, after allegedly practising law for 13 years and winning 11 cases.
He was reportedly found with a wig and gown, forged LL.B and LL.M degree certificates purportedly from ESUT, and allegedly forged court judgments and orders from different courts.
The alleged documents include judgments purportedly from the High Court of Obiozara, presided over by Justice Gladson Ugbala, and the Ebonyi State High Court, presided over by Justice Frank Edem, as well as a court order purportedly from the Customary Court of Appeal in Enugu State.
Ugwumba was also reported to have served as Legal Adviser to Ohaozara Local Government Area.
The allegations have raised concerns about the possibility of an unqualified person practising law and holding a public legal position for years.
