The Nigerian Army has taken a significant step towards establishing its new battalion in Kabba, Kogi State, following the arrival of the first batch of 150 officers and soldiers in the town on October 20, 2026.
The deployment is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security in Kabba and neighbouring communities affected by the activities of bandits and kidnappers.
The arrival of the troops is expected to boost the security presence in the area, improve responses to security threats and enhance the protection of lives and property.
Military sources indicated that additional batches of personnel are expected to arrive in the coming days as preparations continue for the full commencement of the battalion’s operations.
In support of the initiative, the Kabba community provided temporary accommodation for the incoming troops and allocated 250 hectares of land for the construction of permanent military facilities.
A typical Nigerian Army battalion comprises between 300 and 1,000 personnel, depending on its operational structure and responsibilities. The 150 soldiers who have arrived represent the first reported batch, with further deployments expected.
