Terrorism : Senator Shehu Buba Seeks Legal Action, Challenges Hassan To Present Evidence

Senator Shehu Buba Umar has called for legal action over allegations linking him to terrorist activities, challenging his accuser, Hassan, to present evidence before the appropriate authorities.

The senator’s position followed the circulation of several videos allegedly linked to him and claims made by Hassan suggesting that Shehu Buba has connections with terrorists.

According to a statement issued by the senator’s supporters, complaints over the allegations and the circulation of the videos have been submitted to relevant security authorities since 2025.

The statement said Hassan, who has continued to make the allegations through media platforms, has yet to appear before security agencies to substantiate his claims despite reportedly being invited to present evidence.

The senator and his supporters have therefore urged the relevant authorities to investigate the allegations and take appropriate legal action where necessary.

“We have no objection to investigations or inquiries by the appropriate authorities,” the statement said, stressing that anyone with credible evidence against the senator should formally submit it to the security agencies.

The senator’s camp maintained that allegations of such a serious nature should not be prosecuted through social media or media appearances but through established legal and investigative channels.

It further accused Hassan of attempting to damage the senator’s reputation through what it described as unverified allegations.

The statement called on Hassan to present any evidence in his possession to the appropriate authorities, saying that a formal investigation would provide an opportunity for the allegations to be independently examined.

“We will not accept the use of baseless allegations, defamation, or the dissemination of unverified information as a political tool to tarnish someone’s reputation,” the statement added.

The senator’s call comes amid continued public debate over the allegations, with his camp insisting that if there is evidence, it should be presented for proper investigation rather than circulated through media platforms.
