The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, has been honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the St. Gregory’s College Old Boys Association in recognition of his distinguished career in public service and over three decades of service to the Nigeria Police Force.
The award was presented on Saturday, 26th September 2026, at a grand reception held in Lagos State, where the IGP was honoured alongside the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Dr. Olayemi Cardoso.
The event brought together distinguished old boys of St. Gregory’s College and celebrated individuals who have made remarkable contributions to national service, leadership and professional excellence.
The recognition of IGP Disu highlights his journey from St. Gregory’s College, where he completed his secondary education in 1985, to the highest professional office in the Nigeria Police Force.
Since joining the Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1992, IGP Disu has served in several operational, investigative, intelligence and command capacities. His career has included service as Commander of the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad, Head of the Intelligence Response Team and Commissioner of Police, among other senior responsibilities, before his appointment as the 23rd indigenous Inspector-General of Police in February 2026.
The Lifetime Achievement Award also recognises his professional accomplishments across frontline policing, criminal investigation, intelligence operations, international peacekeeping and senior command responsibilities.
Throughout his career, the IGP has placed emphasis on professionalism, intelligence-led policing, accountability, personnel welfare, community partnership and the responsible deployment of technology to strengthen policing and public safety.
Receiving the award, IGP Disu expressed appreciation to the St. Gregory’s College Old Boys Association for the recognition, describing the honour from his alma mater as particularly significant.
He reaffirmed his commitment to serving Nigeria with integrity and to strengthening the Nigeria Police Force as a professional, accountable and people-centred institution.
The recognition further underscores the enduring role of education, values and mentorship in shaping individuals who go on to contribute meaningfully to national development.

History Of The College
The college, originally a College of Education (coed) campus before the creation of its sister school Holy Child College, Obalende, is based in South-West Ikoyi, Lagos
It was established through the Catholic mission in 1928 and named after Pope Gregory the Great (540–604).
