The Rivers State House of Assembly has issued a warrant of arrest for the Vice Chancellor of PAMO University of Medical Sciences over his failure to appear before the Assembly’s Adhoc Committee investigating the use of scholarship funds paid to the university by the state government.
The resolution was reached on Friday, September 25, 2026, during the Assembly’s 53rd Legislative Sitting, following the presentation of the report of the Adhoc Committee by its Chairman, Rt. Hon. Dumle Maol.
The Assembly also urged the Rivers State Government to set up a committee to recover all unaccounted funds in the possession of PAMO University and return the money to the State Consolidated Revenue Account.
According to the committee’s report, PAMO University received more than ₦29 billion from the Rivers State Government under the scholarship scheme. However, the report said there was no corresponding student enrolment to justify the amount received.
The committee said the Vice Chancellor failed to appear before it despite several invitations to explain how the scholarship funds were spent.
