Former Anambra State Governor and Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate, Peter Obi has paid a courtesy visit to the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, in Sokoto.
Former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso accompanied Obi during the visit following their arrival in Sokoto. Kwankwaso described the meeting as an opportunity to engage with the Sultan and expressed appreciation for his reception.
In a statement, Kwankwaso thanked the Sultan for his “warm reception, exemplary leadership, and gracious hospitality,” while acknowledging the monarch’s role in the affairs of the Sokoto Sultanate.
The visit comes as Obi and Kwankwaso continue their political engagements ahead of the 2027 general elections.
