Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has addressed the silence of some former colleagues, friends and associates amid the legal and political challenges he is currently facing, saying he bears no resentment towards those who have chosen not to support him publicly.
In a statement titled *“My Relationships and the Aftermath”*, dated September 23, El-Rufai said he had stood by people and causes he believed in, sometimes at considerable personal cost.
He said his support was motivated by his faith, values and conscience, rather than expectations of gratitude or reciprocity.
El-Rufai acknowledged that some people may speak in his support, while others may remain silent, distance themselves or even deny past relationships.
“Adversity has a way of illuminating relationships,” he said, adding that the experience may lead him to quietly reassess some relationships.
He, however, said he had no regrets and would not seek revenge, leaving ultimate accountability to Almighty Allah.
