Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has signed the ₦1.84 trillion 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, describing the development as “a breath of fresh air” for the state.
The brief signing ceremony was held at the Government House in Port Harcourt, where the Governor expressed appreciation to the Rivers State House of Assembly for its diligence in considering and passing the budget.
Governor Fubara also acknowledged the role of the FCT Minister, Chief Nyesom Wike, in facilitating the meeting and process that led to the passage and signing of the budget.
He said the focus of the 2026 budget goes beyond the figures, stressing that his administration remains committed to development, progress and the welfare of Rivers people under its “Rivers First” mantra.
The Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule, said the provisions of the budget demonstrate Governor Fubara’s commitment to moving the state forward and delivering the dividends of democracy.
With the budget now signed into law, Rivers State is expected to enter a new phase focused on cooperation, cordiality and a shared commitment to the development of the state.
