The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has declared Nigerian-born Olumide Adebiyi Adediran wanted and offered a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to his arrest and conviction.
According to the FBI, Adediran is wanted for allegedly violating the conditions of his release in connection with federal fraud charges dating back to 2001. The agency said he has ties to South Florida.
The FBI alleged that Adediran attempted to withdraw funds from a fraudulent cheque at a bank in Champaign, Illinois, in August 2001, and also allegedly used stolen personal information to open bank and credit accounts.
He allegedly fled the Central District of Illinois in December 2001, shortly before his trial on charges including bank fraud, identification document fraud and credit card fraud.
A federal arrest warrant was issued for him on January 2, 2002. The FBI’s Springfield Field Office is handling the case and has urged anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact the agency or the nearest American embassy or consulate.
