Oyo State Governor and 2027 presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, has called on opposition political parties to unite ahead of the 2027 general election, saying cooperation is necessary to offer Nigerians a credible alternative.
Makinde made the call on Monday in Abuja during the opening of his presidential campaign office, where he unveiled his “Reset Nigeria” agenda.
He urged opposition leaders to put aside their differences and work together towards building a Nigeria that works for all citizens.
Former Anambra State Governor and presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, also attended the event and described Makinde as qualified to become president.
Obi called for unity among political leaders, saying whoever emerges victorious through a free, fair and credible election should be supported by all to address Nigeria’s challenges.
Makinde and Obi are among several opposition figures positioning themselves for the 2027 presidential election, amid ongoing efforts by opposition parties to forge a united front.
