Woman Set On Fire By Her Husband In Kogi Pleads For Him To Be Forgiven

Mrs Berida Irawo, who was set on fire by her husband, Jacob Irawo, in Kogi State, has pleaded for him to be forgiven following the horrific domestic attack.

It was that the Kogi State Police Command arrested the suspect Jacob Irewa for alleged attempted culpable homicide.

The incident occurred at Oworo Estate, Felele, Lokoja on Friday, August 14, 2026.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the incident followed a domestic disagreement after the victim burnt some of the suspect’s clothes which she believed he was no longer using, without his permission.

The suspect subsequently threatened her, fetched petrol from his motorcycle and proceeded to set her ablaze.

A pastor, John Esiga Abu, confirmed her plea for the suspect to be forgiven after he visited her in the hospital on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.

Abu also clarified that suspect is not a pastor, adding that he is a teacher.
