President Donald Trump Mourns Dolly Parton

US President Donald Trump has mourned the death of country music icon Dolly Parton, who died at the age of 80 on Tuesday, August 25.

Trump described Parton as “one of the greatest Country singers” and said her death was “a true loss for millions of people,” adding that there had never been anyone like her.

In her honour, Trump ordered American flags across the United States to be lowered to half-staff for one week, beginning at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

Parton was celebrated worldwide for her decades-long music career and humanitarian work, including her Imagination Library, which promotes childhood literacy. Her cause of death had not been announced at the time of reporting.
