Ahead Of Osun Election: IGP Disu Meets CSOs Over Security



Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu has met with representatives of civil society organisations to discuss security concerns ahead of the Osun State governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.

The CSOs, led by Auwal Musa Rafsanjani of CISLAC, raised concerns about voter protection, political violence, misinformation and the participation of vulnerable groups.

Disu assured the delegation that the concerns would be considered and necessary action taken. He also reaffirmed the police commitment to professionalism, impartiality and neutrality during the election.

The IGP said adequate personnel would be deployed to polling units, with special attention to persons with disabilities. He urged stakeholders to support a peaceful and credible election and maintain cooperation with CSOs through the sharing of credible information.
