The family of late Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that his daughter, Shakirat “Kira” Taiwo, has given birth to a baby boy.
The report, which was accompanied by a viral video describing the newborn as “My Daddy’s Carbon Copy”, claimed that Kira welcomed the child just days after her father’s burial.
However, the family has described the report as false and urged members of the public to disregard the information.
In a disclaimer shared on her Instagram page on Wednesday, Haleemah “Lima” Taiwo, another daughter of the late actor, said the family had been inundated with calls and messages from concerned friends and relatives seeking clarification.
She wrote: “DISCLAIMER. Please disregard the information currently circulating that my sister has given birth. This is not true.”
Lima explained that the family decided to issue the public clarification after receiving several enquiries about the viral claim.
“At a time when our family is mourning the loss of our father, we kindly ask everyone to stop spreading or sharing unverified information about our family,” she added.
She also thanked family friends and members of the public for their prayers and understanding, while appealing for privacy as the family continues to mourn the veteran actor.
“Thank you for your understanding, prayers and for our privacy at this difficult time,” she said.
The family’s clarification effectively puts to rest the speculation surrounding the viral video and the alleged birth.
