FRSC Appoints Ohaeri As Substantive Spokesman

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has appointed Deputy Corps Commander Osondu Joseph Ohaeri as its new Corps Public Education Officer (CPEO), in a move aimed at strengthening public engagement and enhancing nationwide road safety advocacy.

The appointment, announced by the Corps, is part of efforts to reposition its communication strategy, reshape public perception, and promote safer road use across Nigeria.

Joseph, a seasoned communications strategist and operations expert, brings over two decades of experience spanning media relations, field operations, policy coordination, and stakeholder management.

He previously served as Media Relations Officer at the FRSC National Headquarters in Abuja for 15 years, where he played a key role in projecting the image of the Corps and communicating its activities on critical national issues.

His operational experience includes serving as Unit Head of Operations in Keffi and Bida, as well as Assistant Corps Commander (Operations) in the Kaduna Sector Command.

He also held positions as Head of Special Duties and External Relations, where he facilitated partnerships and strengthened collaboration with key stakeholders.

A Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and the Institute of Corporate Administration, Joseph is widely regarded as a thought leader in public communication. He is the author of “The Potency of Public Enlightenment Campaigns on Road Crash Reduction in Nigeria,” alongside several publications on road safety management.

Beyond his role in the Corps, he has contributed to national and community service, including serving as Public Relations Officer of the Methodist Archdiocese of Abuja and Chairman of the Publicity and Media Committee for the 170th anniversary of Methodism in Nigeria.

Joseph has also held leadership roles as Unit Commander of the Lugbe Unit Command and served as Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of Women Affairs. Until his new appointment, he was Deputy Corps Commander in charge of Marshal Inspectors, Administration and Human Resources at the FRSC National Headquarters, where he contributed to institutional reforms and personnel development.

A recipient of several awards, including the FRSC Best Unit Commander Award (2022), Joseph has also earned multiple leadership and innovation honours, as well as international recognition as a Peace Ambassador and Chaplain.

The FRSC expressed confidence that his appointment will usher in a new phase of impactful public enlightenment campaigns, enhance stakeholder engagement, and support the Corps’ mandate of reducing road traffic crashes across the country.
