Governor’s Sister Dies Days After Encounter With Armed Robbers

Atsi Kefas, the 44-year-old younger sister of Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas, has died after being shot by suspected armed robbers.

She passed away on Monday night in a private hospital in Abuja, where she was receiving treatment for gunshot wounds sustained during the attack.

The incident occurred last Thursday when armed men ambushed a vehicle carrying the governor’s mother, Jummai Kefas, and Atsi along Kente Road in Wukari Local Government Area. Atsi was critically injured during the assault and was initially treated at the Federal University Teaching Hospital in Wukari before being moved to Abuja for advanced medical care.

Dauda Samaila Agbu, chairman of Wukari Local Government Council, confirmed the attack and described it as “deeply troubling.” He expressed his sadness over the situation and recounted how Atsi was shot and taken for urgent medical attention.

Although the state government and the Kefas family have not issued an official statement, a reliable family source confirmed her death on Monday night.

Following the news, social media platforms have been flooded with condolence messages from friends, family, and well-wishers mourning her tragic loss
