Kuwait Emir Sheikh Nawaf Dies At 86

Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, the Amir of the State of Kuwait died on saturday december 16, 2023 at 86, the state television said. Since this death, many officials and organisations offer their condolences to the kowait nation. 

According to Qatar airways, the late Amir legacy and his contributions to diplomacy, humanitarian efforts, and regional stability will continue to inspire generations. The UK Prime minister and the president of the 78th session of the United Nations general Assembly tweeted their sadness after the death. 

The Muscat daily stated Oman has suspended all work within the public and private sectors for a period of three days from Saturday, December 16 until Monday, December 18 to mourn the death of the late Emir Sheikh Nawaf al Ahmad Jaber al Sabah of Kuwait. 

The french media, LeMonde reported  that Kuwait's 83-year-old Crown Prince Mechaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was named the country's new emir the same day of the death. It said that the disappearance of Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the advanced age of his successor increase uncertainties in the country shaken by divisions within the Al-Sabah family, some members of which accuse others of corruption or conspiracy.
