I'm Seriously Thinking Of Running For Presidency In 2019 - Saraki

Senate President Bukola Saraki has revealed that he is actively thinking about running for the position of President in the 2019 general election.

In a recent interview, the former Kwara state governor said that he had been consulting and actively considering it.

“I am consulting and actively considering it. I believe I can make the change,” he was quoted by Bloomberg as saying.

Saraki recently defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The senate president also claimed that the PDP had learned its lesson from the loss in 2015 and stand a chance of leading Nigeria in the right direction.

“We (PDP) have the opportunity with the right kind of presidential candidate and president to provide the leadership for the party. The party has a good opportunity to lead the country in the right direction,” he said.

To win the PDP ticket at the party’s primary on October 5 and 6, Saraki would need to beat another presidential aspirant former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, who also defected from the APC.

Saraki said Nigeria needed to be governed by a genuinely pro-business administration that would be able to tackle recurrent security issues.
