A 50 year old man, Chief Ekanem Edet,
of Mbiabong Itam in Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, has hanged
himself yesterday, leaving behind a suicide note saying his action was as
result of economic hardship.
The deceased who was popularly called ‘Jolly Boy’ was the former Secretary of the Mbiabong Village Council and he was married with two sons. He was found dangling on a rope tied to the roof of his room.
When
contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Cordelia Nwawe, said she
was not aware of the incident and that it was not reported to the police.
