Why would a concession agreement that would yield
Nigeria billions of Naira in terms of investment opportunities and creation of thousands
of jobs be allowed to rot away due to the self interest of a serving minister?
These are the critical questions being asked by
stakeholders in the tourism and allied industry in Nigeria
Recent findings by CKN news has revealed that a
business deal worth N68bn and concession fee worth another N110bn is lying
fallow on the table of a minister under President Muhammadu Buhari’s
government..
A bid was opened for the concession of the
National Theatre Iganmu Lagos, fallow area for the building of a five star
hotel, shopping malls, Waterparks and
other recreational facilities.
At the end of the bid,on the 25th of May
2015,a letter was issued to the preferred bidder.
They went ahead to get all the necessary documentations
and approvals from both the Finance minister and other relevant agencies.
From the document obtained by CKN news through an open
letter addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari, the supervising minister has
since kept the signed document under his table because he had some other
interest on the job.
Thereby jeopardizing the efforts of the investors who
have sourced billions of Naira in funds to execute the project.
They are appealing to President Muhammadu Buhari,a man
noted for his stands on integrity to intervene on the issue and save Nigeria
from the huge loss being incurred from accruing benefits of this project which
ought to have reached an advance stage by now.
