15 PRISONERS AWAITING EXECUTION IN GOMBE STATE

A female and 14 male prison inmates in Gombe are to die by hanging, Comptroller of Gombe Central Prison Yard, Adamu Mohammed Abba said.

The comptroller spoke when he received Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo of Gombe State who paid a courtesy visit to the prison.

He said the inmates were among the 1,076 in the prison with majority of them on awaiting trial, thereby contributing in congesting the prison.

In his remark, the state Comptroller of Prison, Alhaji Ahmadu Adamu, appealed to Dankwambo to offer free medical services and engage the inmates in various skill acquisition programmes.

In his response, Governor Dankwambo expressed his concern over the high number of young inmates, and promised to ensure speedy justice for those on awaiting trial.
